a touch of ankara

Fashion trends I’m loving right now || a touch of Ankara

Fashion never goes out of style. There are several trends that have come and gone but one I’m currently loving is ‘dressing with a dash of Ankara’.

Ankara – a native African material used to sew different types of clothing

P.S. Ankara is also the capital of Turkey #funfact

Gone are the days when ankara used to be just a wrapper and blouse, now it can be sown in different styles…ankara jackets, kimono, pants, pencil skirts, jumpsuits/playsuits. Basically any type of clothing can now be sown wih ankara and I just love the fact.

ankara top

I have this habit of wearing ankara to work only on fridays and it’s really not a bad idea but now I’m wondering “why don’t I wear it more often. ‘Cos with the right tailor, you are gonna look amazing in ankara.

I recently got this top from the #shoptrendelo sales held recently at City park, Wuse II Abuja. I don’t think it was sold to me at a sales price cos I expected it to be cheaper. Anyway, I still got it cos the design and fit was just ‘my taste’. I actually tried on the top, considered buying it and dropped it. But my ‘stylometer’ wouldn’t just let me be, so I went back to buy it (at the same price the lady mentioned…no discount whatsoever).

What I really love about this top is it’s versatility. It can be worn with a skirt or pants, at night or during the day, casually or dressed up for a fancy event. It just goes with EVERYTHING if styled right.

I actually had an amazing time taking these awesome pictures. The photographer (my brother) was also awesome and very professional lol. We had fun scouting for shoot locations and looking for those angles that would make the pictures appear amazing.
